The Legacy of Jacques Philippe Farly

Jacques Philippe's Legacy

Farly Family in Quebec and Abroad

1700-1800

The Farly family began the 1700s in Montreal. The second generation had moved to Fort Michilimackinac, but their permanent home was probably Montreal, as this was the case with many of the fur traders.

Josette lived to be 87 years old, and is buried in L'Ile Dupas, Quebec.

Our ancestor, Albert, who was born in 1755 in Fort Michilimackinac, was married and lived in Montreal. He married Marie Josephe Desery-Latour, who was born in 1753, and their son, Pierre Albert Farly was baptised in 1779-01-14 at L'Ile-Dupas, Quebec.

Pierre Albert married Marie Celeste Masson, who was born in 1785, and two of their sons are my gggg grandfathers.

The two sons were:

- Francois Xavier Farly was born in about 1807, married Emelie Denomme, and their son, Adelme (Adam), married Valerie Allard.

- Amable, who was born in about 1817, married Marie Forcier. Their daughter, Denise Farley, married Julius Boucher.

The daughter of Adam and Valerie, who was named Julia, married the son of Denise and Julius, who was named Joseph. As Adam and Denise were first cousins, my great grandparents, Julia and Joseph, were second cousins.

1900-Present Day

There are still a great many Farley's living throughout Quebec, in areas like Ile du Pas, and the northern United States. In the late 1800's, both Adam and Amable moved their families to the United States, to Polk County, Minnesota. Adam's brother, Francois, also made the move to the United States. Both Adam and Amable enlarged their families, while living within a few miles of each other. Eventually, some of the younger members moved to the state of Washington, and others emigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada.
